The tools also tend to support incremental backups, which reduce backup time by copying only the changed pieces of data from time to time and thereby making the backup process quicker, since most of the data doesn’t need to be re-copied.

To protect data, the backup tools also typically include encryption features and commit/rollback management features. The rollback features will prevent primary data sources from being corrupted during the backup process.
