I am having problems using USB on network.

Most of our laptops in our network does not recognize the USB thumb drives. Though the system accepts the thumb drive without any error, but the USB drive is not seen in the computer Menu. The "Device Manager" shows that a USB has been connected. Assigning a different alphabet to the drive name shows up the USB drive on the system. Is there anyway this issue can be fixed.

This usually happens when the letters collide in the network drives & USB Drives. To access you will have to move to a different letter. Windows must be setup such a way that local disk cannot peep into the network access. You will need to have separate sub system for assigning drive letters. MS suggest that you assign letter from Z & continue backwards. You have a automated solution also for this issue called USB Drive Letter Manager
