I wonder if Mac has a firewall? Is it different from a Windows firewall?

Macs do have firewalls but they are by application. Windows firewalls work by ports. That's about the only difference. Read more here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=mac/10.4/en/mh1042.html
