What to prepare before browser upgrade?

I need to upgrade my browser from IE7 to IE8. Can anyone tell me what I should prepare before I do the upgrade? Thanks.

Test on a few machines before you upgrade.

Check for compatibility issues. Are there sites that need add-ons and plug ins? Check for applications and know what they need.
Check for security features. Are there any additional SSL certifications required?
