Running virtual Windows on a Mac OS

I am thinking of running a virtual Windows on a Mac OS to overcome virus attacks on Windows. Will setting up a different OS be a safe way to prevent attacks to my Mac data?

No, it won't protect your Mac data. A cross platform virus could still attack your Mac and Windows. The threats are real on both OS.
